Mr. Ai has been admitted to practice law in China since 1991. He has represented multinational patentees in pharmaceutical, telecommunication and electronics industries in conducting patent litigations, licensing, patent assignment, and preparing investment related technology agreements. Mr. Ai was elected by Asia Law and Practice as the Asia Lead IP Lawyers in 2006 for Year 2005.
Mr. Ai successfully obtained the first two preliminary injunctions against local generic drug companies in China IP enforcement history. He frequently represented clients in appeals in front of the Supreme People’s Court.
Mr. Ai also acted as MOFCOM expert in IP related issues regarding investment, trade and anti-trust. He also represented foreign clients in CIETAC, Hong Kong International Arbitration Center and Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Ai is veteran in representing off-shore companies on recognition and enforcement of foreign arbitration awards and judgments in the PRC.
Mr. Ai has been a partner at ZY Partners since 1999. He previously worked at Clifford Chance and Miller, Nash, Weiner, Hager & Carlsen for several years. He was an in-house counsel at Hyundai Motor Company responsible for setting up the entire corporate entities in China. Mr. Ai spent three years as Assistant Professor Law at Law School of Shandong University in the early 1990s. Before he started his academic studies, Mr. Ai was a non-commissioned officer in PLA between December 1976 and 1981.
Mr. Ai graduated from Shandong Normal University in 1985. He continued to receive LL.M in International Law in 1991 in China University of Political Science and Law. He received his Juris Doctor from Northwestern School of Law, Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon in 1997.
